Secrets of the Wychbold Transmitters
The masts near Droitwich were at one point the tallest structures in the country, and in 2024 are celebrating their 90th anniversary of broadcasting to the nation.
Several hundred feet tall, they are local landmarks for tens of thousands of people in the Worcestershire countryside, off the M5.
Alistair Moseley from The Bromsgrove Society explains why the masts' location is perfect for broadcasting, what is currently beamed out of the transmitters, and whether they have a future in the modern age, and could live to a century after first being set up.
