Beirut evacuees land in Birmingham
At 8:40pm on the 2nd of October, a planes evacuating British nationals from Beirut landed at Birmingham airport.
The flight was chartered by the British Foreign Office after Israel began a ground invasion of South Lebanon and started bombing its capital city targeting Hezbollah
Mahasen El Dada from Manchester spoke to Radio WM the day before she flew when she was waiting for her and her two sons’ spaces to be confirmed. She explained that she had to make the difficult decision to leave without her husband as he is not a British national.
We also spoke to Mona Deeley, who picked up her 80 year old mother from Birmingham airport.
