Worcester headteacher: Smartphones are ‘work of the devil’
The headteacher of a large secondary school says they are distracting for pupils, keep them up too late and provide an avenue for bullying.
Neil Morris from Christopher Whitehead Language College told our reporter Tom Edwards how the school's policy is that smartphones are turned off during school hours, and that initially parents were unhappy with the proposals.
Pupils say how their devices get confiscated, but only when they are noticed. Others added there is a balance to be struck between improving students' communications skills in a no-phone environment, whilst also having a way to contact home in emergency situations.
