Amateur radio enthusiast Maggie Iaquinto was the first person to contact Russian astronauts in the early 1990s.

She would wait for the Mir space station to orbit over her house in Australia - saying hello, giving news and even sharing recipes. Her son, Ben Iaquinto tells Megan Jones how his mum built a relationship with the comsmonauts over the years including with Sergei Krikalev, who was stranded in space for 311 days.
