Vanessa Feltz: ‘I was always hungry, I wasn’t really being fed much’
Broadcaster Vanessa Feltz, a familiar face on our TV screens who’s interviewed the likes of Madonna and Miss Piggy on the Big Breakfast bed, joined Anita Rani in the Woman’s Hour Studio.
She discussed her new memoir, Vanessa Bares All and opened up about being put on a diet from the age of nine by her own mother.
Despite this leading to a problematic relationship with food, Vanessa said of her mother: ‘I don’t think she did it to be nasty, I think she was worried that I might get fat and she didn’t want me to’.
She explained that she thinks being subjected to strict health regimens and being criticised from ‘such a young age’ could set up health issues in children.
