'I loved playing piano for Eva Cassidy'
Long-time collaborator Lenny Williams worked with her after first meeting in 1988, until her untimely death in 1996. His playing appeared on many of Eva's much-loved recordings, including Autumn Leaves, What A Wonderful World, People Get Ready, and You’ve Changed.
His creative, story-driven approach to the craft of scoring, composing original music for over a thousand documentary films, winning six national Emmy Awards in the category of Outstanding Achievement in a Craft: Music and Sound.
He has performed with Smokey Robinson, Anita Baker, Chuck Brown, Stephanie Mills, and Gloria Estefan, and of course, the late, great Eva Cassidy.
Lenny tells Toni about how he first encountered the legendary vocalist with producer Chris Biondo, as well as how she ended up recording some of her biggest hits with a cold!
