The former Lionesses captain Steph Houghton has released an autobiography called Leading from The Back, where she opens up about her husband鈥檚 battle with motor neurone disease.

She told 5 Live Breakfast that she and her husband 鈥� the former Bradford City defender Stephen Darby 鈥� are trying to be 鈥渁s positive as possible鈥� but that when she recorded the audiobook 鈥淚 could hear my voice cracking鈥�.

Steph said she had felt fit enough to keep on playing, but she decided to retire from football to spend time with Stephen and 鈥渕ake memories鈥�.

鈥淲hen something like this disease happens, it鈥檚 important that you live each day as it comes.鈥�
