ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ secret filming exposes London pubs failing women’s safety
Serious flaws in a scheme designed to protect women from harassment in pubs, bars and clubs have been exposed in a ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ undercover investigation, revealing a troubling gap between the promise of safety and the reality on the ground.
The Ask for Angela initiative, in place in thousands of venues nationwide, aims to provide a discreet way for those feeling threatened to seek help.
But undercover researchers found in more than half of the London venues tested, including major chains, staff failed to respond appropriately when assistance was needed. The ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ received similar reports from across the UK.
The findings come as more local authorities make the safety scheme key to granting alcohol licences. Guy Lynn reports.
