The absurdity and appeal of Tyson v Paul
YouTuber Jake Paul will go head-to-head in the ring with heavyweight boxing legend Mike Tyson
Why has a boxing bout between Jake Paul and two-time heavyweight legend Mike Tyson led to interest, curiosity and concern?
The fight is controversial considering Tyson is 58 years old and has not fought professionally for 19 years. Paul became of the world’s most famous YouTubers by creating prank videos before entering the professional ring for the first time in 2020.
Alongside the “interest and curiosity” in Tyson’s comeback, boxing reporter Lance Pugmire tells Sport Today’s Ade Adedoyin why Paul “needs to be taken seriously as a real legitimate professional boxer”.
The undercard includes three world-title fights including the highly anticipated rematch between Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano which Pugmire hopes will “take women’s boxing to the next level it deserves”.
