Captain Tom ‘tainted’, say Bedfordshire villagers
A report says his family benefitted personally by setting up a charity in his name. Captain Sir Tom Moore raised almost £39m during the Covid-19 pandemic by walking laps of his garden in Marston Moretaine. That money was donated to NHS charities, but the subsequent running of the Captain Tom Foundation has been criticised by the Charity Commission. Chief Executive David Holdsworth said there were repeated instances of a “blurring of boundaries between private and charitable interests” and that Hannah and Colin Ingram-Moore benefitted significantly.
