Can this Grade I listed building be saved?
Hall’ith’Wood is where Samuel Crompton invented his spinning mule, which put Bolton at the heart of the cotton industry.
250 years on, parts of the building have become unstable due to dry rot and damp and it’s been closed since 2021.
Now the owners, Bolton Council, have teamed up with Historic England to come up with a rescue plan for the Grade-listed mansion, Phil Cunliffe reports.
