Queensbury railway tunnel will not reopen
The 2.2km former railway tunnel will not be reopened despite attempts for it to become a traffic-free greenway for walkers and cyclists. Instead, attention will shift to the wider cycling network connecting Keighley, Bradford, Queensbury and Halifax.
With costs to repair the tunnel alone estimated to be approaching £60m, the council are sympathetic to the cause but Councillor Ross-Shaw doesn’t want to raise any false hopes.
