Inside 'secret' £10m medicinal cannabis factory
More than four thousand private prescriptions for medicinal cannabis are expected to be prepared at a factory in the East Midlands.
It’s believed the fully licenced facility run by Dalgety will be the first of its kind in the country to grow, manufacture and supply the drug under one roof.
Cannabis can relieve some symptoms of conditions such as severe epilepsy and Multiple Sclerosis, but many NHS doctors are reluctant to prescribe it.
ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ reporter Natasha Turney was allowed access into the factory and spoke to James Leavesley, one of the founders of Dalgety.
NHS England told us: 'Many doctors and professional bodies rightly remain concerned about unlicensed products, and manufacturers should engage with the UK medicines regulatory process to seek a licence and provide doctors with the confidence to use their products.'
