Dennis Iliffe's roof was significantly damaged over the weekend, and says he's 'absolutely astounded' that his home insurers rejected his claim.

The Kidderminster resident's aerial had to be replaced, and chimney repaired, following the heavy winds, costing more than 拢500.

His insurer Saga says the gusts peaked at 53-miles-per-hour, just below its claim threshold of 55-miles-per-hour.

Since Mr Iliffe shared his story with the 蜜芽传媒, his insurance provider Ageas has agreed to settle his claim.

The Association of British Insurers said wind speeds must reach at least 55-miles-per-hour to be considered a Storm.
