Droitwich celebrates its Masterchef champion
Get to know 29-year-old Dan Merriman, who started washing plates at The Crown & Sandys in Ombersley, then moved up in the kitchens of The Crown in Hallow and The Manor Arms in Abberley.
A career in fine dining took him then in to Masterchef: The Professionals, winning the final and taking home the trophy.
Dan tells Elliott Webb why he's so proud of his roots and the food produced in Worcestershire, from the purple-sprouting broccoli of Ombersley to Vale of Evesham asparagus, and what the future holds for him as a chef, with his young family in tow.
