Miners 'betrayed' over pension plan
Some former miners from the region say they feel forgotten after the Government left them out of a plan to improve pensions for ex-pit workers. Chancellor Rachel Reeves recently announced extra cash for the Miners’ Pension Scheme after complaints that too much money had ended up in Treasury coffers.
But members of the separate British Coal Staff Superannuation Scheme are unhappy that they are not getting the same boost to their pensions.
