Purbeck Mining Museum receives accreditation
The Purbeck Mining Museum has received accreditation from Arts Council England, the standard for museums across the country.
The museum is located alongside the Swanage Railway’s Norden Station at Purbeck Park and is entirely volunteer-run.
It has seen a 50% increase in visitor numbers since the beginning of 2024, and the Arts Council recognised the "high standards of management, visitor engagement and the care it takes to protect and preserve Purbeck’s mining heritage."
Museum Chairman Peter Sills spoke to Radio Solent's Steve Harris.
