'The Army's gay ban led to my mental breakdown'
73-year-old Claire Ashton from Uffington joined the Army in 1969 when it was illegal to be gay in the armed forces. Clare said: "They thought I was gay as trans hadn't crossed their radar all those years ago". Consequently, Claire suffered prejudice and abuse during her time in the army. She tells her story to ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Radio Shropshire's Rob Trigg.
