“Because the senses are heightened, it actually hurts”
For most people, getting a haircut is no big deal - and something we don't really think twice about. But for many autistic people, it can be a huge issue, and even be really traumatic.
12-year-old Mae from Cowley is one of those people, who avoided getting her hair cut for years due to a mix of complex sensory issues.
Mae gives us an insight into what it's like getting a haircut and how, when done well, it can change an autistic person's life.
