Shyam Popat is a screenwriter from Leicester.

He's just won the Debut Writer award from the Edinburgh TV Festival's new talent amplifying organisation for writing episodes of the Sky drama 'The Day of the Jackal'. The critically praised show starred Eddie Redmayne in the lead role.

Shyam is also developing his own projects for television, film and theatre, as well as helping run his family business, Popat Mithai, an Indian sweet shop.

Shyam spoke to 蜜芽传媒 Leicester's Shruti Chauhan.
