Melton food bank dealt 'massive' fall in donations

The main food bank in Melton says it's now having to spend £600 a week buying food, after public donations fell significantly in January and have not recovered.

The Storehouse charity offers food, clothing and baby equipment to vulnerable people referred from the Melton area.

It has collection baskets in three of the town's supermarkets, but donations have halved this year.

Manager Siggy Atherton told ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Leicester reporter Helen McCarthy that it's come at a time when demand has risen.
