The Godiva Festival attracts some big names to Coventry but local artists say they don't get the same respect as them and are offered low fees to perform by the event organisers.
Fareed Siddiqui runs Impact Steel Band and says he was approached by the Godiva Festival organisers to take part in this year's three-day event but claims they were shunned when they disclosed their fee and he wouldn't accept the council's really low offer.
A Council spokesperson said: “We work with a wide variety of artists for the Godiva Festival each year and focus on supporting local talent from Coventry, which remains a key priority for us.

“When booking artists, decisions are made based on a number of factors, including availability, how an act fits into the overall programme and logistical considerations. While cost can be one of the many elements in planning, in this particular case, the artist was unable to perform at the time slot available, which unfortunately meant we couldn’t include them in the final line-up.
