Political leaders from the North west, including Mayor Andy Burnham have been to Westminster to try and to make the case for the government to fund a new rail line.
Seventeen billion pounds was earmarked by the previous Conservative Government to develop the scheme between Manchester and Liverpool, but it’s not enough and they want the government to commit to building it in it's upcoming spending plans.
