'We've collected 2,000 bags of litter in 9 years'
More than 100 volunteers are taking part in a series of canoeing events to clear the River Soar of plastic and litter.
The Leicester Outdoor Pursuits Centre is teaming up with Paddle UK - previously named British Canoeing - for the 2025 Big Paddle Cleanup.
Waterborne litter picks are being carried out by people from local groups and businesses along the river, one mile (1.6km) either side of its Belgrave base.
Stuart Fraser from the centre told Ady Dayman that over the last 9 years the group has collected over 2 thousand bags of litter from Leicester's waterways.
