Wait nearly over for mum who fought for inquest

Jodey Whiting died two weeks after her benefits stopped in 2017.

A great grandmother from Teesside who pushed for a new inquest into her daughter’s death, is finally due to hear the evidence she’s fought hard for. Jodey Whiting, from Stockton, took her own life two weeks after her benefits stopped in 2017. The original hearing didn’t include information from the Department for Work and Pensions.

Our North of England correspondent Fiona Trott went to meet Joy Dove, who shared her story.
