The widow of a murdered journalist shares his final work
In 2022, the British journalist Dom Phillips was in the Amazon rainforest of Brazil researching for a book on the impact of deforestation there. He was on a research expedition with Bruno Pereira, a Brazilian indigenous expert, when they disappeared on the Itaguaà River. It was later discovered that they had been shot and killed. The men accused of their murder are awaiting trial.
But now the book Dom was working on has been published this week. It's called "How to Save the Amazon" and it's been completed thanks to a group of journalists who pieced it together using much of Dom's writings and combining them with their own research. And it's got the blessing of his widow Alessandra Sampaio who spoke to Julian Worricker.
