Marple Locks: A bid for UNESCO recognition?
More than two hundred years since the construction of the North West's canals helped kickstart the industrial revolution, there's a campaign for one of its most spectacular sections to become a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The 16-lock flight at Marple in Stockport is one of the steepest in Britain and its Aqueduct is held up as an enduring example of engineering brilliance.
