'I felt as low as I possibly could'

Wayne Pugh, who is blind, says a visit to a Stoke-on-Trent pub for Father's Day left him wanting to cry.

He says the family had booked a specific table at The Chatterley Whitfield in Tunstall to ensure there was room for his guide dog, Liberty - but when they arrived they were moved to another table, which wasn't suitable.

Wayne says his dog is his life, and he is fed up of facing access issues.

Hungry Horse, the pub owners, have said: “As an inclusive business we want everyone to feel safe and welcome in our pub. We recognise that on this occasion that the guest felt let down, and we apologise for that. We believe that this is an isolated incident, and we have launched a full investigation into what went wrong. We’ll take learnings from this to refresh our training to support the pub team on site to make sure they are welcoming to all our customers and their requirements.”
