Leicester Cathedral’s 'secret' medieval porch
Leicester Cathedral's porch over the North Door dates back to the medieval period.
Leicester's parish church of St Martin was raised to cathedral rank when the Diocese of Leicester was created in 1926.
Recently the Cathedral has seen much restoration work and the building of the new Heritage Learning centre, but one feature often unnoticed by visitors - unless they look up - is the porch over the North Door, that's the door that opens onto Guildhall Lane.
Although much restored, the timber-framed north porch is actually partially late medieval work.
ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Leicester’s Ben Jackson went to investigate.
Produced by Pete Wardman.
