In the late 1960s and early 1970s, the prototype RTV31 tracked hovercraft, or 鈥榟overtrain鈥� was tested in the Fens 鈥� with the ultimate aim of reaching speeds of up to 300mph.
But it wasn鈥檛 to be. And little evidence of the experiment exists.
