Thoresby miners share their memories
At one time, Nottinghamshire, with 42 collieries and 40-thousand miners, was one of the most successful coalfields in Europe.
However, in 2015, the closure of Thoresby colliery marked the end of a 750-year history of mining in Nottinghamshire.
It's now been ten years since the last coal was cut at Thoresby, which was once considered a record-breaking “jewel in the crown” because of its productivity.
Some former miners have shared their memories of working at the colliery.
