Ground-breaking poetry night for Worcester
Queer Voices will be the first event of its kind in the faithful city, for LGBTQ+ acts, which can trace its roots to veteran performers, and one of TV's biggest ever quiz shows.
The brainchild of Melissa Poulton, with support from Lisa Ventura, the event is due for Thursday 24th July in Worcester's Boston Tea Party, with plans already underway for an additional night in Birmingham, and potential opportunities in Cheltenham, Wolverhampton and Hereford for 2026.
Melissa tells Nina how the event stemmed from an idea she had when applying for the Worcestershire Poet Laureate, and realising that she didn't need a title to carry it out. Lisa's journey in to the arts began in the 1990s, working with Chris Tarrant when Who Wants To Be A Millionaire was commissioned, and says that an event like this is needed to support acts from our area.
