Plane ‘fireball’ crash at Southend airport
Southend Airport will remain closed until further notice after a small plane crashed in what witnesses described as a "fireball".
Essex Police said it was alerted to a 12-metre plane on fire at the site in Rochford near Southend, just before four PM on Sunday afternoon.
It has been confirmed that four people were killed, when the aircraft got into difficulties shortly after taking off.
