Farmers: Bluetongue causing havoc for livestock
For 2025, the Royal Welsh Show banned livestock entering from England, affecting thousands of farmers across Herefordshire, Worcestershire, Shropshire, Cheshire and more.
The virus is spread by midges and causes fever, lesions and swelling, especially in sheep.
Cattle, sheep and goats aren't accepted from exhibitors located within various restricted zones.
Two cases have been confirmed in cows in Herefordshire.
Matthew Nicholls from Hereford Livestock Auctioneers tells Elliott Webb about the impact this has been having on farmers across the country, and how it could eventually affect consumers.
At time of publishing, The Royal Welsh Show had yet to respond to a request for comment.
