'Leicester's Caribbean Carnival is for everyone'
Final preparations are underway in Leicester for this year's Caribbean Carnival which is celebrating its 40th anniversary.
The celebration on Saturday will feature a parade through the city centre, before revellers gather at Victoria Park for an afternoon of food, music and dance.
Leicester's Caribbean Carnival was the brainchild of Elvie Morton, who came here as a nurse during Windrush, and wanted to create something powerful for Leicester’s Caribbean youth, bringing together artists and local leaders.
Elvie has been telling ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Leicester's Kevin Ncube that Carnival began as a way to mark Emancipation Day.
