Essex incinerator to be ‘investigated’
Potential planning breaches at a new Essex incinerator site are to be investigated by Essex County Council, following a complaint. The facility in Rivenhall near Witham is due to begin operating in August, and will burn almost 600,000 tonnes of black bin waste every year.
James Abbott is a Green Party councillor on Braintree District Council and says planned recycling facilities have not been built. Meanwhile, a spokesperson for waste firm Indaver said: "Building recycling facilities do not recycle more waste unless there is suitable waste available".
So how do some of those living in nearby Silver End feel about the situation?
