What is it like in a priest hole?

Phil Downing spent 48 hours bolted in to a cramped space at Harvington Hall, near Kidderminster, in a space only three feet wide and five feet high, surrounded by concrete.

He says the surprisingly sweltering and dark conditions gave him a panic attack when he came out, and that he was significantly bruised - as a 16th century priest would be - hidden in between the floorboards.

Tom Edwards hears how the feat of endurance was achieved armed with just bread, an apple, some water and a bucket, and was part of a mission to raise money for the vital upkeep of the historic Worcestershire site.
