Caribbean Carnival in Leicester celebrates its 40th year this year.

Every year the carnival has a theme – this year its Unity – celebrating the shared origins, experiences, struggles and triumps of black communities.

Community is what carnival has always been about - in its earlier years many groups in the wider community around Leicester would get together, like the team at St Andrews Adventure Playground, near the Royal Infirmary.
