Cracking down on Northants’ rogue landlords
Rogue landlords of houses of multiple occupancy in Northamptonshire are facing lifetime bans.
Four landlords in the county have had such sanctions for severe breaches of housing legislation, after operating 14 unlicensed houses of multiple occupation (HMO’s).
West Northamptonshire Council says it is only the second local authority in the country to issue these orders.
According to figures from the Department of Housing, at least 177 HMOs in Northamptonshire are operating without the right licence.
Andrea Pluck has been investigating.
