Carnival: 'not always plain sailing'
Leicester's Caribbean Carnival is in it’s 40th year.
The sights, smells and sounds of the Caribbean have taken to Leicester’s streets come rain or shine to hit the road, as troupes and the public came out in their thousands.
But the road hasn’t always been smooth - and one of the most controversial changes was when Carnival stopped being free, and started to charge a fee.
