The Heart of Princes Park
The Mandela Memorial Garden in Liverpool has become a vibrant symbol of hope, peace, and community transformation.
What began as a cruel act of vandalism has become a powerful symbol of hope. In November 2023, a half-tonne pedestal stone intended for Liverpool’s Mandela Memorial Garden was thrown into Princes Park lake and defaced with racist graffiti. But on National Mandela Day this year, the stone was unveiled at the garden’s entrance—reborn as a message of resilience, love, and education.
A newly placed stone now stands at the entrance to the garden, featuring one of Mandela’s quotes—welcoming visitors with wisdom and purpose.
