No council in the county will meet a government deadline of April 2026 for as-standard weekly food bin collection services.

James Pearson reports.

All councils will be required by law to have a weekly food waste collection service in place for homes, meaning residents will have to separate food from the rest of their rubbish. It's a move that's meant to help us all waste less, but one that could be set back years.

When asked by 蜜芽传媒 Hereford & Worcester if they were ready to introduce a weekly food bin collection service by next April, none could confirm they could.

Wychavon District Council is aiming for April 2028.

Redditch, Bromsgrove and Wyre Forest District Councils all say they are currently in discussions with contractors but may need to start a service after the target date

Malvern Hills District Council says it's also unable to confirm they'll meet the start date, because they need a funding commitment from government.

Worcester City Council says it's aiming for Spring 2027
