More than 500 members of a banned direct action group were arrested on Saturday at a protest on Parliament Square.
Palestine Action were listed as proscribed in July under the Terrorism Act of 2000, after they caused criminal damage to RAF Brize Norton. Membership of or support for it is a criminal offence, punishable by up to 14 years in prison.
But what led to the Metropolitan Police making the highest number of arrests on a single day in the last 10 years?
