Should the Clive of India statue be removed?
"Clive was an incredibly important character, but also an extremely controversial one", says historian William Dalrymple. Labour peer Baroness Debbonaire has called for the statue of Shropshire’s Robert Clive outside the Foreign Office to be removed, saying it is historically inaccurate and unhelpful to Britain's relations with India. But where does this leave Shropshire and the Clive statue in Shrewsbury's Square?
