‘There’s a lot of snobbery around spicy fiction’
Do you love getting lost in a romance novel? How about a 'spicy' romance?
Author Emma Lucy and Stylist journalist Shahed Ezaydi joined Nuala McGovern in the Woman's Hour studio to talk all about ‘spicy’ fiction and why it’s so popular amongst women.
The term refers to a sub-genre of romance that uses chilli ratings to signal how steamy things get - but despite its popularity, Shahed and Emma told Nuala that it’s still surrounded by stigma, as they broke down some of the language that’s often used to describe the genre.
