The 'civic shame' in Bromyard
The derelict former hotel, the Hop Pole on Market Square, has fallen in to ruin in recent years, sparking public safety concerns.
Locals are up in arms over the state of the building, right in the heart of the town centre.
Herefordshire Council has had to erect fencing around part of the site, and they've hit the owner of the Grade II listed building with an urgent safety notice, due to worries over falling masonry.
Campaigner Allyson Taylor tells Tom Edwards the site could become a focal point of the community.
At time of publishing, the site is in private ownership. A planning application has been submitted by a Norfolk-based developer to convert the upper floors into flats, while retaining the ground floor as a bar or restaurant.
