The Drifter from Droitwich
Bill Pinkney's Drifters asked Clyde to join them for a number of years, and has performed classics such as Saturday Night At The Movies and Under the Boardwalk all over the world.
Clyde Stevenson Spencer tells Kate Justice how he's been living in Droitwich for over a decade, finding life in the UK much more amenable than his hometown of Brooklyn, New York.
He and his brother began singing aged five, picking up ten number one hits stateside in the gospel group The Joneses. He has shared stages with Aretha Franklin, Billy Paul, George McCray, The Stylistics, Martha Reeves, The Spinners and more.
Clyde shares how he was a year away from completing his law degree when music came calling, with an offer to sing with The Drifters. All these years on, he certainly doesn't regret that choice.
