'I have never seen it so dire'
Heritage Narrow Boats in Scholar Green are fearing closure due to the drought in Cheshire canals.
The Canal and River Trust has said conditions are extremely challenging, with water levels in the reservoirs and canal network so low because of the driest spring on record and vandals purposely draining water from the canal. It says its using what little water it has to protect the high points in the network and keep enough water in the canal for fish. It says recent rainfall is being used to top-up the Bosley lock and, once that's complete, it will start refilling the section where Heritage Narrow Boats is based.
