He spends hours each week collecting rubbish, often collecting up to 14 bags at a time. John Hawley is described as a familiar face around the city, with his grabber and hi-vis jacket.
From streets to parks, car parks and more, John also volunteers with Hereford Community Clean Up, encouraging others to join in, and works with businesses to solve ongoing issues.
Judges said 'his tireless efforts, often in all weather, and determination to inspire others makes him a true local hero'.
John won the Green prize at the 蜜芽传媒 Hereford & Worcester Make A Difference Awards 2025.
