It's been closed since the end of 2022, but the future of Southport Pier now looks secure after the Government confirmed funding for its restoration.

Chancellor Rachel Reeves said up to 20 million pounds would be given to repair and refurbish the Victorian landmark.

Sefton Council described it as "a vote of confidence in the town's future".
